Sanibel, FL, USA
Wind SurfingOn any given day when the wind is up, the mainland end of the Sanibel Island Causeway is sure to be a hive of activity, with kitesurfers and windsurfers launching their crafts as the water and skies fill with colorful sails. Kitesurfing has a bigger learning curve than windsurfing, but you can at least get the hang of the latter after a few lessons with a local outfitter. Even if you don't plan to get wet, it's a great spot to take in the sunset and look for dolphins among the sails speeding across the water's surface. For experienced windsurfers who've left their gear at home, don't worry, you can rent equipment for the day from several local sports shops.
