Walk the Wicklow Way
Ireland’s oldest long-distance walk is a self-guided walking trail that takes you through the Wicklow Mountains, with glacial valleys, streams, rivers and lakes and every type of landscape from rugged mountainside to forest and farmland.
If you’re doing the full 127km, plan to take anything from six to ten days and make sure to spend plenty of time in the area around Glendalough, which has the remains of a monastic settlement from the 6th century.
Accommodation along the trail is usually in B&Bs (book in advance) and some will collect you and transport baggage.
There are also plenty of providers that arrange packages which include accommodation, trail maps, luggage transport and local knowledge.
