Why wouldn't you stop for brunch?
Recently, an American foodie website posted a recipe for "Mince on Toast", claiming it was a true British classic. My fellow Brits had never heard of the abominable combination and laughed at the suggestion (see #mincegate on Twitter). And Kiwis were outraged that they were getting no credit for their favourite comfort food. Anyway, it features on the brunch menu at this excellent little café on the main street of Kaikoura, so Why Not? (Disclaimer: I had the French toast with bacon and bananas and a long black, because I'm Scottish and mince is served with tatties.)
