Just discovered that my hometown has one of the few Lithuanian restaurants in the West. The small, family-run place has a cozy dining room and a beer garden out back, the perfect place to try an award-winning Ekstra Lager. One if the best beers I’ve ever had. It was fascinating to talk to the owner about how Lithuanians are rediscovering their heritage after being under Soviet rule for so long. I can vouch for the borscht, the cucumber salad, the pan-fried chicken thigh, and the potato pancakes. And it’s probably the only place you’ll get to try amber tea, chunks of actual amber steeped in hot water. It tastes sort if like mineral water, and it’s pretty. Can’t believe it took us so long to find this place.
