Whale-Watching
Icy Strait Point is about a five-minute boat ride from Point Adolphus, on the south side of Icy Strait, where a deep upwelling rich with krill turns the sea into a buffet for humpbacks. With the mountains of Glacier Bay in the background, whales that are around 11 meters (37 feet) long often come close enough to the excursion boat that you can hear them breathe. Icy Strait Point offers a $100 refund if no whales are spotted. They’ve never had to pay out.
