Atop Mount Tamalpis over looking San Francisco bay is a turn of the century lodge named West Point Inn. Hiking and biking enthusiasts venture to this rustic outpost to take in the endless vistas, fresh mountain air and a little bit of of San Francisco's history.
Visitors can reserve an over night stay in one of the 7 bedrooms in the inn's main building or in a rustic cabin. Each of the cabins come complete with private porches over looking the bay and wall length sliding back doors to sleep under the stars and wake to the sunrise. Believe it or not, but you will be high enough on the mountain to be sleeping above the clouds.
Overnight guests are welcome to use the fully equipped professional kitchen to cook meals and are welcomed to pancake breakfasts on select Sundays. There is no electricity at the inn which adds to the rustic experience. Horse shoes, picnic tables, a large fireplace and living room for games encourages families to have some bonding time. Rooms go fast so be sure to make your reservations at least 90 days in advance.
