Eat on the Street
Over the years prices on the island of Roatan have risen astronomically. Most tourist restaurants are charging what many typically think of as "western" prices. To avoid spending all your hard earned cash on food, hit up the street stalls. You can find local ladies roadside dishing out piles of goods on a daily bases, order a meal for around $5 and you will get the meat of your choice (usually chicken, fish, pork or beef) with rice and beans, homemade salsa, fresh potato salad, handmade tortillas, fried plantains and sometimes even some spaghetti just because! The food is delicious and less than half the price of what you will order in the restaurants (even the less than par ones).
