The West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island in Canada is one of the top ten trails in the world to backpack. Between walking on wooden boardwalks, climbing and descending ladders, tidal pools, and camping on beaches, you will not be disappointed. Wildlife abounds with sightings of whales, bald eagles, deer, bear, and plenty of sea life.
You can spend as little or as much time on this 76km trail, but you'll have to carry everything with you, including all of your food, shelter, and clothes. Bring extra money to stop at Chez Monique's for a burger along the way. You might get the option to have fresh salmon at the Nitinat Narrows crossing as well.
Pack light, walk slow, take your time, and enjoy the sights and sounds of Vancouver Island.
