On the west coast of the island there are three excellent surf breaks. At PK 38.7 you’ll find Papara, which is a popular shore break with easy access from the road. Waves are moderately challenging, but beware of strong currents in a heavy swell. It’s usually best between May and October. At PK 15, you’ll find Sapinus located at Fisherman’s Point. It’s a shore break with fast hollow waves. Finally at PK 12 is Taapuna, which is a classic year-round reef break that breaks left beautifully and attracts a lot of surfers.
