Downtown Norfolk’s newly renovated Waterside District, located along the Elizabeth River, has emerged as one of the most exciting additions to the city. It sizzles with top-notch eateries, first-rate entertainment, and stunning river views. Inside a soaring, 30,000-square-foot gourmet food hall, you can order a slice at local favorite Cogan’s Pizza, slurp down some fresh bivalves at Rappahannock Oyster Company, or try the flavorful barbecue at Guy Fieri’s Smokehouse. Pop by Virginia-based Star Hill Brewery to taste some of the 48 craft beers on tap, or check out the Blue Moon TapHouse, with signature brews plus gastropub-style dining and live music. A new addition as of November 2017 is a Norfolk location of Stripers, a favorite from the Outer Banks of North Carolina, serving seafood, sandwiches, and some 30 beers on tap while country music fans can line dance the night away at PBR Norfolk. Come summer, the riverfront terraces and outdoor concerts attract a lively local crowd. In 2017 the Main hotel opened nearby, so guests only have to take a short stroll from the party to get back to their room for the night.
