Wat Rong Khun: The White Temple
While there’s no shortage of spectacular temples in Thailand – or Asia for that matter – one of my absolute favorites is without doubt the distinctive Wat Rong Khun. Perhaps better known by the name ‘The White Temple’, the building has a glistening white appearance that appears to shine in the sunlight. The unique temple is actually a product of Chalermchai Kositpipat, a Thai artist who designed the contemporary temple as ‘a representation of the Lord Buddha’s purity while the glass depicts his wisdom that shines brightly over Earth’. No matter your religious view, the temple certainly takes some striking pictures and makes a change from more traditional temples.

Barely a hint of the usual temple colors. No shimmering gold leaf or red gleaming fires decorate this temple near Chiang Rai, Thailand. But think again if you think there is no Buddha as there are two, one seated and one painted on the wall adjacent to the mural of "evil."
Buddhist Ice Castle
Once you think you've seen one too many temples, go visit Wat Rong Khun. Perhaps a bit peculiar, the temple is completely white, the inside walls are unusual murals of everything from spiderman to the collapse of the twin towers. Reminiscent of an ice castle you'd find in a modern day remake of Labyrinth, it's definitely worth a visit for design geeks.
