#1 Wat in Chiang Mai
For anyone that enjoys the journey as well as the destination then whilst there is nothing fantastically remarkable about Wat Doi Suthep the 15km ride up the mountain really puts the cherry on the cake, a stunning piece of tarmac which snakes its way up through switch back, cambered bends I think is the highlight, coupled with the fact that there are two stop off points providing a panoramic view across the city. The other impressive point is the 309 steps to climb in order to get to the Wat (that is unless you decide to pay the 30bt for the cable car). I'd recommend going later in the day, its cooler, the hoards of touristy stalls are packing up and the bus loads off tourists themselves have long since disappeared.
