War Memorial of Korea
Korea lies on a small but very geopolitically important peninsula that’s surrounded by global titans China, Japan, and Russia. For centuries, the country’s strategic location has made it the site of much conflict. The War Memorial of Korea is a free museum that explores the country’s ancient and modern military history. Outside the entrance lie sculptures and commemorations dedicated to fallen Koreans and allies, as well as an extensive display of military vehicles that visitors can climb and enter. Inside, detailed exhibits explain the country’s turbulent history, particularly that of the recent Korean War. There are several poignant, interactive experiences told from the South Korean perspective, including 4D simulations of the Battle of Incheon and the harsh, winter conditions endured by soldiers.
