When a friend told me about WAR Chest, I loved the concept. I knew as soon as I entered the store that I would love every part of it.
First, this isn't some place that sells camouflage jackets and replica bayonets. WAR stands for Women at Risk, and everything in the store is made by women in other countries who are attempting to empower themselves through challenging circumstances. The pleasant and informative ladies in the store are here on the Naperville side doing their part.
In one trip, I found Egyptian blown glass pens for my father-in-law (always a tough one), Indian pants and shoes for my bohemian daughter, beaded scarves for sisters, and fair-trade chocolate for me. A good day's haul for a good cause.
