Lively Pedestrian Shopping Street
A crowded shopping street with interesting, if jumbled, architecture, Wangfujing used to be the premier shopping district in Beijing. Cheap souvenir shops jostle for breathing space next to giant malls that have all the same stores you can find back home. Head to the six-story book shop with a huge selection of English-language books and Chinese textbooks for Mandarin learners. Dapper gentlemen might pick up a vintage-style hat at Shenxifu and the adventurous will want to try fried scorpion on a stick at the bustling snack street.
