W South Beach Combines Luxury with Fashion and Relaxation
For years, the W South Beach was a place I would visit for the day. As a local in Miami, the W is South Beach spot that has plenty to offer, even if you're not staying onsite. With two of the city's best eateries, The Dutch and Mr. Chow, Wall Nightclub and a high-fashion boutique that I'm obsessed with, I'm there at least twice a year. Last month, I had the pleasure of finally staying there while visiting South Beach for a friend's wedding. I didn't think I could love the hotel more. My room, designed with a younger traveler in mind, had it's own private balcony and a view of the Atlantic that differs from other Miami Beach vantage points.
During my stay, I hung out for the day at Grove, a whimsical outdoor garden near the two buzzing pools. I ordered food from the outdoor bar and took-in the part of the property that I had never experienced first-hand. The hotel's pool a party on the weekends, but also has relaxing private areas to get cozy. With room reservations I had access to the beach with lawn chairs and umbrellas in the perfect spot on the area's trademark white sand. After the wedding, the entire group headed to the hotel's Living Room Bar off the lobby. The bar was designed by Anna Busta and features dramatic artwork from noted collector Aby Rosen's private collection. The Art Deco space is social, but not obvious given the hidden location to the side of the hotel's entrance. It has an intimacy that made us feel like it was just our group and needless to say, we stayed until closing. I slept very well. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with Bliss products and a spa onsite. The night after the wedding I was greeted with a cold coconut to drink next to my bed thanks to the Whenever/Wherever team at the W. They couldn't be more attentive to my hangover and overall wellbeing. Above all, I think the vibe at the W will always keep me coming back due to it's beautiful views, creative design and simple, yet attentive care that make it almost seem like a home away from home.
