Visit to Lugo
Celts and Romans left their mark throughout Galicia, but Rome’s enduring presence in Lugo is, well, solid as stone. The old city is the only one in Europe to be surrounded by intact 3rd-century Roman walls—designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site—and the 1.6 kilometer (one mile) scenic walk along the top passes 71 towers and 10 gates. It's well worth the 90-minute drive from A Coruña.
