Visit El Salvador’s Maya sites, especially Tazumal

Calle Tazumal, Ilopango, El Salvador

Tazumal is one of several Maya sites in El Salvador, and one of its most impressive. Metal objects found here are believed to be the earliest such artifacts from Mesoamerica. Today, visitors can learn about and admire the intellectual, creative, and physical abilities of earlier civilizations by observing the still-standing structures, including the Temple of the Columns, and sculptures on display in an on-site museum.
