Viking Museum

Sankt Clemens Torv 6, 8000 Aarhus, Denmark

The region’s fierce and fascinating Viking history can be explored at a number of places. The best within the city is the Viking Museum, situated on the spot (underneath a bank) where the Vikings are said to have founded Århus in the 8th century. It’s not a large museum but does have a compelling array of artifacts, from tools to human remains, and shows immersive reenactments of Viking attacks. Entry is free, and it makes a good starting point for Nordic history novices.
