If Viceroy Miami has a homelike feel that sets it apart from corporate chains, there's a good reason. Only 14 of its 50 floors are dedicated to hotel guests; the remainder are residential units. The “This could be my home” sensibility extends to guest rooms, each with a unique design and select furniture: In one room, it's a massive, checkered marble writing desk; in another, it's a specially painted headboard above the bed. All rooms, though, have extra-special amenities, such as Illy espresso machines and Neil George toiletries. With exceptional on-site dining, the longest pool in Florida (it's the equivalent of three football fields and it's on an outdoor terrace), and a nightclub that features two live DJs, exceptional views of Miami, and an outdoor rooftop pool, it can be hard to leave the hotel and explore the city.

Viceroy Miami, Miami Beach
At the 162-room Viceroy Miami, maximalism rules. The hotel is set in a statement-making downtown skyscraper, and Florida’s longest infinity pool graces the two-acre rooftop. A sumptuous Philippe Starck–designed spa is tricked out with marble soaking tubs, redwood-lined saunas, tranquil lounging nooks, and an enormous chartreuse Murano chandelier. —Meeghan Truelove From $345. 485 Brickell Ave., (305) 503-4400.
