The street of the Cribs of Naples, info and how to get there

On the map it is known as Via San Gregorio Armeno, but Neapolitan and do not know it as the Via dei Presepi. If the northern cities are typical for their Christmas markets, Naples carries the banner of the most Christmas city par excellence, with this street in the heart of the historic center where Christmas is practically all year round and where artisans have been making handmade statues for centuries to decorate the crib.

The Via dei Presepi is located in Spaccanapoli, the heart of the city: on the left and on the right of this uphill street you will find many small artisan shops with their exclusive pieces. They range from classical statuettes to the character of the moment, represented in caricature. And you can not miss on the stalls a nice basket of lucky red horns and the historical statue of Maradona, celebrated by the Neapolitans like a divinity.

The street of the cribs is all year round but during the month that anticipates Christmas begins to crowd with tourists but also many Neapolitans who care about the art of crib and come to buy their piece to add to their crib.

How to reach via San Gregorio Armeno

You can reach via San Gregorio Armeno on foot, if you are in the center, along Via Duomo until you get to Via San Biagio dei Librai - beginning of Spaccanapoli - up to the destination; with the subway instead, starting from the Central Station take the Line 1 stop Piazza Dante
, and from there continue to Port'Alba along the Via Tribunali. Spaccanapoli is immediately recognizable because it is an uphill road and the Via dei Presepi is narrow and crammed with stalls.
