Verkehrshaus der Schweiz

Lidostrasse 5, 6006 Luzern, Switzerland

in the Swiss city of Lucerne is one of the biggest transportation museums that I have ever seen! There are several parts to the museum including air, rail and sea transportation. What I found the very interesting are the walls that are made up of road signs of all sizes. If you go, plan on spending at least 4-5 hours if you want to cover everything!

The Air section

There is something for every one who loves traveling at the Swiss Transportation Museum. Swiss Airlines also donated one of their disused jumbo jets to the cause. In this section you can also find a DC-9 as well as every other kind of air transport including memorabilia from the space program, both American and Soviet.

Trams and trains

You can go off the rails at the Transportation Museum in Lucerne with their extensive collection of not just the trains that once crawled up the Swiss mountains but also the trams that transported the Swiss people around their cities.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

A must visit museum for a trip to Switzerland. Each corner you turn in the Swiss transportation museum has something interactive for you to do. Whether its climbing around old trains, driving a train in a real train simulator, taking a tour of one of the first Swiss Air airplanes, sitting in an old ski gondola, or watching a futuristic carpark display cars, this museum has to be one of my favorites in Europe. Our 4 hours spent here felt short with how much there is to see and interact with.
