Velo Rouge Cafe

798 Arguello Blvd, San Francisco, CA 94118, USA

This cozy, community minded, all-things-bicycle-inspired cafe on Arguello (and a block from Golden Gate Park) is the perfect place to meet cycling buddies for your pre-ride fuel spot. You’ll see the red, ceramic decorated bicycle hanging above the entrance (a piece by Kathleen Dodge), and the bicycle parking up front. There’s even a communal pump out front, in case anyone is low on air in those tires. Inside you’ll discover delicious brunch items (order the Mont Ventoux....), gourmet roasted coffee and vintage bicycle images from all over the world. The cafe was founded by Meg Lynch, to celebrate her love for community, bicycles and the Tour de France. Meg has moved on, but the spirit of what she established is ever present- the cafe still opens in the wee hours of mornings in July, so that you can view the Tour de France action ‘live’, on TV. My local crew of friends that ride the ‘City Loop’ love starting and ending our rides here, because of the coffee at the beginning, and the epic brunch/lunch once we’re done. In Velo Rouge, we trust.
