One of Burgundy's most picturesque villages
The quaint village of Vandenesse-en-Auxois is one of France's "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France" - a designation for being one of the country's most authentic and beautiful villages. Biking up to the hill top village from our barge was bit of effort, but well worth the sweat. Visit the Chateauneuf-en-Auxois - the 12th century castle and fortress built by Jean de Chaudenay. The views looking down towards our barge on the Canal du Bourgogne were filled with green rolling hills littered with the regions famous white Charolais cows.
