Praslin Island

To immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the Seychelles, take a boat excursion from Mahé Island to neighboring Praslin Island, the second largest in the chain. Here, the lush Vallée de Mai nature reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to the rare black parrot and the native coco de mer (double coconut) palm, whose massive nut—the largest in the plant kingdom—has a highly suggestive, sculptural shape. The beaches on Praslin are spectacular, too, especially Anse Lazio, which features both soft white sand and dramatic granite boulders—meaning photo ops abound.
