Fire it up!: Fallas of ValenciaLast April 2013 I made a two week trip to visit one of my best friends in Madrid. After a long 10 hr. I got to Gerardo's apartment near a very nice and cozy neighborhood in the Spanish capital. Until there I though that the journey will end resting myself in the couch drinking a hot espresso. No my friend! My friend advised of a big event that will take place the next day in the coastal city of Valencia, that's about 5-7 hrs drive from Madrid. We reached the city late in the afternoon. After a couple of beers and tapas we walked the city until the night stroke the city. We got to this place were there was the biggest Falla (faya) of the city.
Fallas are constructed of wood and a plastic like material every year. It's a tradition that began long time ago by workshop owners who received summer burning old wood and stuff from winter time.
