Well Jumping in VagatorWhile in Vagator, I came across a rather unusual festival. I was told by a local that it's called 'Happy Feast,' and it's some sort of celebration that is held in small villages in this area. The gist of it is that all the village men go from house to house taking turns jumping into their wells (yes, water supply). As they do this, the home owners bring food out and everyone is constantly singing and chanting. I walked with a group for a while, and noticed that a lot of people were drunk, and even though they were soaked, they managed to somehow smoke cigarettes without extinguishing them. Mind you, these wells are not just little five foot deep hops, but rather, they are full 20 foot drops, and then you need help to crawl up and out via the slippery wall so you can move on to the next one. It was definitely one of the most peculiar and unique events I've come across in my travels.
