Handmade local treats
Antakya is a small town in the Hatay province and should be visited in Spring or Fall as the heat and cold can be dampening. Aside from the religious and empirical history, the food is a delicious mix of traditional Middle Eastern and Turkish. The Uzun Çarşı or "Long Bazaar" is a great place to wander about and buy fresh spices, local cheese, nuts and raw dough for baking. The locals are quite laid back compared to the bustle of Istanbul. If you have time to spend in Turkey, Antakya is a city that should be on your list.
