Usina Chaminé Cultural Center
Indigenous and caboclo (mixed Indian and European) cultures are the themes at the Centro Cultural Usina Chaminé located in an attractive neo-Renaissance building that once housed the city’s water treatment plant. The name Chaminé comes from the 24-meter-high (80-foot-high) chimney. The museum has recordings of native languages and folk art, and the cultural center hosts theater, music and art shows. The nearby Alfândega, or Customs House, is another fine early-20th-century building.
