Relax in an Old Mill
Founded in the late 1880s, this former flour mill produced top-grade wheat and rye for decades, but now the century-old, five-storey grain silo has been turned into one of the most original venues in Sweden, the work of Kerstin Söderlund and her family. Kerstin also doubles as the project leader for the Dalsland stretch of Pilgrimsleden, or Pilgrim Trail, a route used by medieval pilgrims on their way to and from Trondheim in Norway. Modern day travelers will find Upperud an equally appreciated resting place – and a great venue for local events, ranging from pub nights and jazz concerts to the annual Evening of Light when lanterns and fires are lit all around the lake.
