The thousands of small islands that dot the West Sweden coastline create a clam space to explore the crystal-clear waters in a kayak. The islands and postcard-perfect fishing villages of the Gothenburg archipelago are a popular activity for city dwellers, while the islands further north offer a more tranquil experience. The more experienced kayaker should head north to Sweden’s first marine national park at Kosterhavet. Home to an incredible 12,000 species of animals and fish, the islands are a real highlight for any watersports enthusiast. Kayak rental companies can be found in many of the small communities along the coastline, and many offer tutoring and/or guided tours in addition to equipment rental.
