Kecak is one of the famous dance from the island of Bali. Kecak Dance Bali tells the story of Ramayana and played mainly by men. This dance is performed by many (tens or more) male dancers who sit in rows of circular and with a certain rhythm called "top" and raised both arms, depicting the Ramayana as line of apes help Rama against Ravana.
Kecak was created in about 1930, Wayan modulus worked with German painter Walter Spies to create tradition based Kecak Dance Trance and parts of the Ramayana story. Wayan modulus at popularizing this dance around the world with his troupe of Balinese dancers.
The Kecak dancers circle is wearing a plaid fabric like a chessboard around their waists. Besides the dancers, there is also the other dancers who portray the characters Ramayana as Rhama, Shinta, Ravana, Hanuman, and Sugriva.
