If you've ever traveled to Spain's Basque Country, you'll no doubt be acquainted with the long, leisurely hours spent enjoying pintxos, País Vasco wines and cheeses, and its signature txakoli, an effervescent cider-like wine that invites lingering at the table with friends for a good while.

The best place to drink it in New York is at Txikito, a Basque-inspired restaurant in Chelsea with indoor and outdoor seating. Restaurant owner and chef Alex Raij is also the founder of the city's Txikifest, an annual celebration of the crisp, dry drink.
