After a strong rain, the rivers and streams swell, making a hike through Turkey Run's trails rather difficult. That is, unless you are prepared for such endeavors and wear the appropriate footwear. Wearing my Vibram 5-fingered shoes, I was able to simply march up the trail that meandered through a mossy canyon and enjoy the beauty that surrounded me -- without worrying about my shoes getting wet. Most people try to avoid the water because they have to walk the rest of the way with sloshy shoes. But I reveled in the fact that I was walking in the middle of the risen stream, letting the cool water drift around my ankles, and sometimes my calves.
