TrollstigenTrollstigen (the Troll’s Path) replaced an ancient hiking trail that linked Åndalsnes with the Valldal valley. Ascend the single-track road and take the old stone bridge across the Stigfossen waterfall, which tumbles over 1,000 feet. The modern visitor center atop the mountain will stick in the memory, with its wooden footpaths and three viewing platforms allowing you to peer over the edge onto the racetrack-like road and lush valley below. Due to snow, the road is closed from October to mid-May, with exact dates varying each year.
