Life is so unpredictable and surprising. Last month I got a call from one of my uncle that he is not going to Nepal for the Everest Base Camp Trekking trip which he has purchased. He asked me to go instead of him. I got as excited as I was thinking about doing something during my holidays. The moment he asked me to go I agreed readily. I searched in an internet about Nepal and I found out that this is the best place to be in South Asia as it is the home of the world’s tallest mountain Mt. Everest.

I couldn’t wait longer for my trip to this Himalayan nation. Ever since I heard the news that I was going to Nepal I was excited as ever. The day finally came for my Everest Base Camp Trekking. My uncle had booked the Everest Base Camp Trekking package with the Nepal Trekking Routes Treks & Expedition where I met my trek guide and the company owner Mr. Shailesh. I find it very pleasant about his personality and the level of knowledge moment his team welcomed me at the Nepal’s International Airport. The journey began with the flight to Lukla. I was anxious, excited and nervous all together. The airport is very renowned across the globe as the world’s most extreme airport of the world. Once I landed after about 3 hours of walking reached the Phakding for the day’s rest. It’s wonderful feeling the first day of the trekking as I crossed a single suspension bridge which was featured in the Everest Movie as well and my guide Mr. Shailesh mentioned that the bridge just before Namche Bazaar is the main depicted on the movie which I saw on the way to Namche after the best rest in Phakding. The Namche Bazaar caught my eye as you can find the world class restaurant, bars and shopping arcades in such high mountain as well. My guide told me that this place is the hub of the Sherpa people of the Khumbu region of Nepal. For the acclimatization procedure we stayed one more day in Namche hiking to the Everest View Hotel. The Syangboche airport which is the world’s highest located airport could also be observed in the same day. The first view of the Mount Everest, Amadablam along with lots of Himalayas really made my acclimatization trip overwhelming.

The next day’s trekking took me to the small monastery town of Tengboche. As we were trekking higher the change in the forest environment surprised me. Until Namche Bazaar I experienced the temperate forests while in this phase of the trekking I experienced the alpine forests. The Lamas chanting mantras in monastery and the overall scenery including the marvelous view of the beautiful mountain Mt. Amadablam really inspired me to move further. I was skeptical about whether I would be able to do the trekking or not because of the altitude sickness but my guide asked me to drink water as much as possible to avoid it which actually worked. The next day’s trip was beautiful as it involved less uphill trekking rather the track along the river and into the beautiful valley of Pangboche. The Mt. Amadablam was always with us. Once we reached the Dingboche we called it a day for that day. The journey continued towards Lobuche. The thin air which I could feel can be experienced but the excitement really dragged me closer towards Everest Base Camp. My trip so far accommodated the Sherpa village, tracks on the banks of river, temperate to alpine forest and the mystical Himalayas and hilly terrain. Once I reached the Lobuche my guide showed me the Kongmala Pass which can be done during the Everest Three High Passes Trekking. My Everest Base Camp Trekking headed towards the Gorakshep from Lobuche. This is the last place before I will have the first step on the iconic base camp of the world’s tallest mountain Mt. Everest. The Khumbu Glacier was on my right hand side and the avalanche was coming on the nearby mountain which was fascinating sight to see during the trekking. Immediately after reaching the Gorakshep by walking past the moraine I checked into the room and stroll out towards Everest Base Camp. The sight of the Everest as seen before reaching the base camp really made my day. I took some pictures in the base camp and delighted to see lots of people getting excited once they have reached the destiny. I assumed myself to be very lucky as I reached the base of the world’s tallest mountain. The next early morning’s hike towards the 5545m tall Kalapathar made my entire trip dwarf. I saw the magic from there. The magnificent Himalayas shining in the sunshine and the Khumbu Glacier stretched up to the end of the Lobuche just below the Cholatse Mountain really was a visual treat to watch. As I descended back to Lukla passing by the same places where I came was too looked very different. Therefore, whoever is travelling to Everest Base Camp trekking is highly recommended to observe the daily lifestyle of the people of Khumbu during your descendent from the base camp. You will see the same place in different dimension.
