A market’s been held at Israels Plads since 1889 but it was only in 2011 that two permanent food halls were finally completed and opened to the public. The pair of glass buildings house more 100 stalls, including places where you stop to grab a bite to eat or have a drink. It’s lovely to take a cup of tea at Tante T, maybe with a slice of cake. Alternatively, you can stock up on food and wine to take away. There’s everything from traditional Danish dishes to paleo food to go. On the way out you can pick up a bouquet from one of the amazing flower sellers surrounding the halls. Even if you’re not hungry, the bustling halls are a sight worth seeing.
