Try a Torta Ahogada
Guadalajara has several cultural claims to fame—charreria, mariachi music, and the Fería Internacional del Libro (International Book Fair), to name just a few—but it has a few culinary claims to fame, too.

One is the torta ahogada (literally, "drowned sandwich"). Guadalajara's iconic sandwich, sold in restaurants and at street food stalls, is a generous heap of meat piled atop a roll that's crunchy on the outside and cushiony on the inside. The sandwich is topped off with ribbons or rings of onions, thinly sliced radishes, and avocado, and then doused with a special sauce, which can be spicy or sweet.

It's a messy but satisfying meal. Just make sure you have plenty of napkins.
