The Toronto Zoo recently made international headlines when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau cuddled a pair of panda cubs. The zoo is noteworthy for much beyond that adorable moment: With over 460 species and 5,000 animals represented, this is the country's finest and largest zoo. Much of the 710-acre park is divided into geographic "zones" that attempt to re-create those in the wider world, so visitors can see the African savanna (think lions, white rhinos, and baboons) before a trek through the tundra to view polar bears, arctic foxes, and reindeer. If a day visit isn’t enough for you, the zoo also offers occasional overnight bush camps for the true animal lover.
