Norman Van Aken Hits Wynwood with Three

Last year, celebrated chef Norman Van Aken opened Three and No. 3 Social at the Arcade in Wynwood, Miami's artsy neighborhood that seemed to evolve into a major attraction in Magic City in less than six years. The space is expansive, especially the rooftop which is ideal during the golden hour. The staff, all beautiful wearing leather jackets and perfect smiles. It's sexy, but also welcoming. As day turns to night it's a breath of fresh air above the city, with smooth libations to wash the day away, or celebrate if you choose. While relaxing on a plush sofa, sip a Norman's Revenge cocktail which is a flavorful combination of tequila, lime, agave and black salt.

For dinner, make your way downstairs to Three and choose a multi-course menu up to five. Highlights include the creamy cracked conch chowder with saffron and coconut milk, the Spanish Dover sole with almonds, olives and butter and a selection of fine cheeses prior to an espresso or additional glass of red.

The space is comfortable with a hint of Wynwood's nod to creative art. A large painting of Freda Kahlo is strategically placed in the middle of the dining room adjacent to the bar, which is buzzing throughout the night.

The best seat in the house? The open kitchen where diners can observe the masters at their work, carefully plating each individual layer to each dish.

Three is a surprising option for Wynwood which started out as a grungy spot to get free chicken wings and/or tacos on any given night, however locals and visitors can't forget that Norman Van Aken has called Florida home for a long time. The menu illustrates the flavors that the city takes pride in - fresh seafood, local produce and high standards for quality. As we watch the menu evolve, the eatery is expected to host guest chefs, illustrating the influence from other Florida-groomed culinary masters.
