Thornybush Game LodgeThe Thornybush Game Reserve is spread across 11,500 hectares of bushveld and shares an unfenced border with Kruger National Park. The arid bush savannah, as well as the rivers and tributaries, attract the roaming "Big 5" species (including cheetah) to this area of the Greater Kruger National Park region. During your time at Thornybush Game Lodge, you'll be taken under the wings of your resident tracker and safari guide. These two are paired with you for the duration of your stay. The ability for guests to tap into their vast, encyclopedic knowledge of the South African bush is an incredible opportunity.
All of the common areas of Thornybush Game Lodge have beautiful thatched roofs and plenty of plush couches tucked into quiet nooks to relax in. In an unfenced camp like Thornybush has, it's common to see different species of antelope wander through the common areas and nibbling on grass. However, once night falls, it's recommended to have a staff member walk you back to your suite. There are just twenty suites at Thornybush Game Lodge (two accommodate families and feature private plunge pools). The spacious living area opens up to a private wooden deck and expansive view of the seasonal Monwana River and surrounding bush. After a long, hot afternoon bush walk with your safari guide, an outdoor shower or a dip in the pool is a must-do.
Thornybush Game Lodge is an easy 45 minute drive through the bush from Hoedspruit Airport. Transfers can be pre-booked directly with the lodge.
