Nadia Ross is an avowedly outsider artist whose critical take on our culture is sure to provide insights to C2 Montréal attendees who join her on her wide-ranging inquiry, “What Happened to the Seeker?” Her work deconstructs the conventional staged performance as it tells the story of the “seekers,” people who in pursuit of meaning for their lives traveled to India in the 1960s. These former idealists have now to turned Kathmandu into a Disneyworld of spirituality. Using testimonial video and autobiographical performance, Ross leads her audiences to surprising places. It’s a scathing portrait of a society that desperately tries to revive its ideals after having sacrificed them on the altar of free trade.
