The newly constructed Lakes Basin Bike Path starts near the Village at Mammoth on Lake Mary Road, climbs five miles, and ascends more than 1,000 vertical feet to Horseshoe Lake. The paved path is a great place to test your fitness on a bike, running, or walking. Views of the Mammoth Crest and Mammoth Rock will not disappoint.
If you prefer downhill biking or walking, you can take the town trolley; it departs from a stop at the bottom of the stairs to the Westin on Canyon Boulevard and will take you (and your bike) to a number of stops in the Lakes Basin, including Tamarack Lodge at Twin Lakes and Horseshoe Lake.
Note: the Lakes Basin Path is not maintained in the winter.
