So comfortable was my room at The Thief Hotel that I was loathe to leave. In the end I relented, but only because my package included a trip to the hotel's attached spa.
Two months later the 90 minutes spent in the spa is easily among the highlights of my Oslo trip.
After being welcomed in with a glass of cucumber water I was whisked through a door and into the high-tech locker room, where I stripped, scrubbed & got into my bathing suit. From there it was sheer spa bliss from start to finish, with Finnish saunas (complete with aromatic oils), a series of massage-pulse showers, an extremely bracing crushed-ice bath (followed rapidly by another sauna visit) and a lengthy swim in the elegant warm-water pool.
Sitting at the pool's edge post-swim, I was brought a second glass of cucumber water and a plate of fresh fruit. As I watched the steam rising from the pool, I thought I saw a wisp of greenish light. The Northern Lights, somehow channeled inside, or a bliss-induced hallucination? Either way, The Thief Spa remains a must-do on my lengthy list of experiences I very much intend to repeat.
