Texas is Book Country!
Held in Austin
at the beginning of every October, the two-day Texas Book Festival—one of the largest and most prestigious in the United States—features hundreds of guest writers, miles of books, contests, literary crawls through the city, and other events that will hold readers spellbound. The grounds for the festival change every year; in 2015, the book lover's version of Woodstock will be held in and around the State Capitol. There is usually also a grand Literary Gala, where over 200 writers walk the red carpet like their more famous creative counterparts do at the Academy Awards.
