Experience Live Comedy in Chicago's Legendary Venue
The Second City has come a long way since the small cabaret theater that launched in 1959. As a sketch comedy and improvisational performance theater, the venue has been keeping people laughing for over 50 years. Situated in the historic Old Town neighborhood, The Second City is an iconic landmark that has remained a trendy, fun place to be on any night of the week. As a comedy production power house, the footprint of its amazing comic talent has resonated through the entertainment industry for the past couple decades with such prominent figures like Bill Murray, Mike Myers, Catherine O'Hara, Chris Farley, Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, John Belushi, and John Candy all boasting Second City training prior to making it big. I have seen numerous shows there myself and am never disappointed by the envelope-pushing, honest comedy that has appealed to the younger and more progressive-minded generations for years. The "Best Of Second City" has been running for a while now and while it is continuously revised to reflect the most current content, it is a classic sketch comedy show that will surely not disappoint. Get there early as space is often tight, and peruse the portraits in the lobby of the Second City alumni (and now celebrities) from before they were made famous on the big screen.
