A Taste of India in Miami

The Ritz Carlton Coconut Grove’s signature restaurant Bizcaya has transformed into a pop-up Indian restaurant, bringing a taste of India to Miami. The restaurant is bathed in rich fabrics with dim lighting from lanterns placed throughout. Executive Chef Ramesh Kaduru brings elements of his hometown, Chennai, India, to the dishes, such as the traditional Chicken Tikka and Masala Shrimp. Hurry up and experience the restaurant now, since it will only be open from Thursday through Sunday through Nov. 3.

A Passage to India Adds Spice to Coconut Grove

From October 3 to November 3rd, the popular Bizcaya restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove will be transformed into an authentic Indian pop-up restaurant every Thursday through Sunday from 6 to 10 p.m. Executive chef Ramesh Kaduru’s cuisine is inspired by the flavors and culture of his hometown of Chennai. As you make your way from the large tinted lamps covered in bright pastels and jeweled coins, you’ll hear the sounds of traditional Bollywood music, with video projection of modern-day Indian entertainment. The meal begins with an amuse of lassi shooters, a creamy yogurt shot with a sweet after taste of mango. A curry-filled soup of Dal ke Shorba with crispy papadam introduces the courses, really showing off the unique and traditional herbs that India is known for. Even if Indian cuisine isn’t your favorite, you must try the beet salad with paneer cream and citrus dressing. The creamy cheese mixture mixed with the baby greens and sweet beets will convert you. Opt for an array of mains to be served family style. Steaming plates of saffron basmati rice are topped with a potato stew with chick peas, potato and cheese dumplings with cashew fondue and the very flavorful tandoori chicken with butter masala. Although each dish has its own defining flavor, sometimes it’s best to mix them. Other menu highlights include the hyderabadi vegetable biryani and the masala shrimp. For dessert, choose the warm dumplings with rose water syrup and vanilla ice cream.

Luxury on the Beach

I splurged on the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne not long ago and fell in love at the first glass of champagne upon check in. We were upgraded to a stunning ocean view room and I took my morning coffee on the balcony. Heading to the beach in the am the attendant arranged my chair in perfect sunbathing position and even made me a towel pillow. I would move in if I could!

Live Mermaids at The Ritz-Carlton Spa

To celebrate the opening of their newly renovated spa, The Ritz-Carlton on Key Biscayne hired live mermaids to greet guests. While you may not see a mermaid on your next vacation to the resort, you can, however, book one of their fabulous massages or body treatments. I recommend the Island Escape Package, which includes a massage, facial, mani and pedi. It’s pure bliss.
