Leidsekruisstraat 21II, 1017 RE Amsterdam, Netherlands
Hearty and authentic Dutch foodBest meal of our 4-day stay in Amsterdam. We walked in to this small restaurant around 3pm on a Monday afternoon and while almost filled to capacity, our family of 5 was able to be seated. Our waiter was knowledgeable, spoke at least 4 languages, and was happy to recommend dishes from the menu.
We first ordered an appetizer of bread with herb butter -- amazing (and I intend to make homemade herb butter now). My husband ordered Menu 3, which included a starter of 3 Dutch sausages (pictured here). I ordered Menu 1 which consisted of a creamy pea soup to start, an entree that included a combination of Hutspot, zuurkool- en boerenkoolstamppot served with a smoked sausage or a meatball, and a dessert (vlaflip). Despite being full about 1/2 through, I managed to eat most of my meal because it was so good.
Very cozy, warm ambiance and an absolutely satisfying meal.
