Omaha's Old Market could be a model for any city wanting to revitalize a run-down commercial area. There are great restaurants (see another Highlight), fun shops and sidewalk entertainers, like these twins serenading passersby near the popular Spaghetti Works in late September, 2013.
You might not expect to find blanquette de veau and Far Breton - along with a tasty orange/tomato soup - on the menu in this traditional Midwestern city, but it was there on the chalkboard at La Buvette in the Old Market. It's a fine bistro, grocery and wine shop reminiscent of something you'd find in Paris. The weather was just warm enough to enjoy sitting at a sidewalk table in late September, 2013.
