There's nothing quite as magical as the fruit stands on the North Shore of Oahu!
My friend and I had planned to vacation in Hawaii immediately after graduating from college, but since we didn't have the money back then, we never ended up going. Fast forward eight years, with the right timing and circumstances, we made it.
We didn't aim for the typical holiday; instead, we rented a one room cabin on the North Shore of Oahu, and a car. Every morning we'd climb down the hill where our cabin was and drive along the road by the ocean to find breakfast. We quickly developed a ritual of getting a coffee and picking a fruit stand to stop at.
I can still remember the taste; sitting in the balmy morning air under palm trees and eating bananas so sweet it was as if they had been dipped in sugar.
I wish we hadn't waited so long to go there, and now that we've experienced it, I think we'd both do anything to go back.
